Since the pandemic started this year, watching GMM videos has become somewhat of a ritual for me, and in one of the videos, the duo mentioned that the views on their videos have indeed been on an all time high since many US states went into quarantine. Additionally, starting this year, their podcasts (that they have been doing since before 2020) have also been higher in demand, and their instagram following has also increased considerably. This clearly proves that at least when it comes to this channel's followers, the social media usage and podcast viewership has definitely increased this year.
Besides this, prior to the 2020 elections in the US, the GMM channel also started the "Vote Like a Beast" movement, where they created a website through which people could register to vote from different states. They had set a goal for a specific number of people that would register through their website, in hopes that that would encourage people to register, and conclusively, they exceeded that goal by a lot. I believe that is because of the emphasis that has been placed on politics throughout this year, as well as throughout Donald Trump's presidency. In addition to this, many Youtubers, social media influencers, celebrities, etc. also appear to have been more invested in last years elections than ever before, resulting in the creation and promotion of movements such as this one.
